Yellowknife (Aug 31/01) - Newly ordained priest Philippe Boudreau arrived in Yellowknife last Sunday to become the newest priest at St. Patrick's Parish.

Boudreau studied philosophy and theology at Newman Theological College in Edmonton, Alberta for six years, then he was off to Ottawa for one year of missiology study in Ottawa at St. Paul's University.

After that he was ordained as a priest and headed off to Yellowknife to become assistant pastor under Father Felix Labat.

"I was up here fishing two years ago and thoroughly enjoyed myself," said Boudreau. "Ever since then I had hoped I would be sent North when I was ordained as a priest," he added.

Boudreau has been busy unpacking and setting up house since his arrival, and his first sermon (homily) in front of the parish will be this Sunday.

"It's good to have another priest in the parish," said father Labat. "He is a good speaker and should do just fine here, as well as in his travels to other parishes in the North."
