Yellowknife (Jun 29/01) - Despite poor weather Raven Mad Daze was an overwhelming success for Yellowknife entrepreneurs, said event organizer Carol Van Tighem.
"I thought there were a few less people," said Van Tighem. "There's no gate to get in so it's hard to tell how many people were there."
Some entrepreneurs who moved their businesses outdoors for the night said it was a busy night event though it was chilly.
"We had a lot of fun. It was good," said Bonnie Humphreys from Barren Land Jewellery. The store set up shop on the street for the first time this year. She said they will take a good look at the weather forecast before moving their merchandise outside next year.
Only one business cancelled a Friday night outdoor booth. Gallery of the Midnight Sun manager Lisa Seagrave said the night was a success even though the store pulled out and stayed closed for the evening because of the wind.
"I've lived in Yellowknife for eight years and it's the first time I've really been able to see Raven Mad Daze," she said. "It was an amazing weekend."
Even though the store missed out on the evening's sales opportunities she said the store was jam-packed with shoppers the next day.
