Fort McPherson (May 28/01) - Two Fort McPherson men are in jail after a two-day crime spree erupted in the quiet hamlet.

The men, aged 23 and 21, started the alleged alcohol-induced wave of crime in a Fort McPherson residence at about 1 a.m. on May 18.

"(Allegedly) they were at the victim's house where they (beat him up) and as he laid there blacked out they emptied the contents of his pockets and took his wrist watch," explained

Fort McPherson Const. Shane Hubley said a man in his early 20s was beaten unconscious and robbed about 1 a.m. May 18.

"At about 6 a.m. on May 21 (the same victim) was threatened again (in his bedroom) and money was taken," Hubley said.

Hubley said the two men are also charged with assaulting a pedestrian and a motorist in the hamlet later that day.

Both men were arrested May 22. Each faces 10 charges, including robbery, uttering threats, assault, assault causing bodily harm, and unlawfully being in a dwelling.

One is also charged with breach of probation. They are expected to appear in court in Yellowknife in early June.
