Yellowknife (May 18/01) - One of the Discovery Channel's top-rated programs is in Yellowknife this week, reviving memories that many residents have been trying to put behind them.
A crew from Exhibit A has been interviewing those involved with the Giant Mine strike and bomb blast that killed nine.
The weekly show will outline events leading up to the strike, the bombing and an 18-month forensic investigation leading to the conviction of Roger Warren, said Exhibit A director Harvey Crossland.
"We're doing all the workings of the investigation including the misdirection before they zeroed in on Warren," Crossland said.
Exhibit A highlights one piece of evidence as turning points in investigations made into shows, but Crossland said he has not yet found any one that stands out that solved the bombing.
Host Graham Greene will "at some point hold something up, whether it be the footprints or whatever, and say, 'This is it.'"
The Giant Mine episode will be a one-hour special to open Exhibit A's last season in September.
The show is winding down because, after five years, there are enough episodes for syndication, Crossland said. Exhibit A, produced out of Toronto, also airs on the Aboriginal Peoples' Television Network and the Learning Channel.
