Yellowknife (May 16/01) - Just for Men will soon have a sister store.

The three partners who started up the men's clothing store are now awaiting arrival of the materials and stock for Just for Women.

The target date for the opening of their new enterprise, which will be located in the Scotia Centre across from the Scotia Bank, is July 2.

"We think there's a market for it," said co-owner Vicki Tompkins. "What we're aiming for is to go after those people who are shopping out of town."

Just for Men, which is located a stone's throw away on 50th Street, opened three years ago. Like it, Just for Women will carry a broad line of mid-range clothing, from casual wear to business wear at prices comparable to those of southern stores.

The owners selected the new location with a view to attracting the hundreds of workers in the Scotia Centre, Precambrian Building and NorthwesTel building.

"There's very little retail over there," said Rosemary Youngblut, another of the three co-owners. "And there's the office towers, where lots of women work."

The owners are targetting a broad age range, from 25 to 60 years of age.

Just for Women will carry Rockport, Santana and Elle lines of shoes, Hagar, Part Two, Nygard, Seasons and Tommy clothing lines as well as Calvin Klein hosieryand a full line of "career wear."
