Inuvik (Apr 20/01) - The public will soon have a chance to evaluate the performance of the Inuvik Justice Committee.
The committee offers an alternative measures program for youth and a diversion program for adults.
They also have a fine options program which allows those unable to pay a fine to work it off through community service.
"We want to promote our land program as well," said committee co-ordinator John Nash.
A community evaluation meeting takes place April 26 from 7-9 p.m. at the Inuvik Centennial Library.
Nash said he will hand out evaluation surveys, plus stats for the past year at the meeting.
He said last year's evaluation meeting was quite successful, with about 30 people turning out.
Nash is hoping there'll be a big turnout at the meeting.
"It's a good chance to meet the people that are volunteers for the committee, like the people who sit on the board, and the people who are volunteers for diversions."
From last September to the end of March the committee sent 68 young people out to various camps outside Inuvik to give them a taste of what it's like to live on the land. The land programs will operate again later this year.
