Yellowknife (Mar 02/01) - The City of Yellowknife's public works department met with citizens and representatives from various groups to discuss pedestrian safety on Woolgar Ave. Wednesday night.
Northland Utilities, the Yellowknife Catholic School Board, parents, and city councillors including the mayor, met to discuss options for making Woolgar Ave. a safer street for children.
Some suggestions included sidewalks on both sides of the street between Byrne Rd. and Range Lake Rd., changing departure times at St. Joseph school to avoid traffic rush and adding more crosswalks.
The Public Works department will research and consult what the best options are with each of the groups by the third week of March via mail.
The final suggestions will go before the City's public services committee sometime in the spring.
