Yellowknife (Feb 28/01) - Communication has never been easier for members of the Aboriginal Financial Officers Association of the NWT.

AFOA members from across the NWT witnessed the official launching of their new Web site during their annual general meeting Sunday.

The site, found at www.afoanwt.com, features a list of all members in the territory, the AFOA mission statement, a preview of upcoming events, a message board, as well as links to AFOA Canada and other regional chapters.

Members can even enter an online chat room.

"This Web site is going to give us more exposure in providing members with information about training opportunities ... it's a help line," said Albert Canadien, president of AFOA's NWT chapter.

"It will also help them have easier access to information they need for their job and it's a good connection to other chapters across Canada."

The site was designed by Angela Hamilton, who soon plans on opening her own Web site design business here in Yellowknife.

Once completed AFOA's office administrator Elaine Woodward will be responsible for maintaining and updating information on the Web site.

Members also discussed the possibility of including profiles of all AFOA-NWT members on the Web site sometime in the future.
