Inuvik (Feb 26/01) - A self-described British adventurer has been ordered out of Canada.

Gary Christopher Rolfe, 35, has 30 days to leave the country after an immigration inquiry in Yellowknife determined Feb. 22 that he worked in Inuvik without the proper papers.

He had been in Canada for several months on a visitor's visa when he was arrested Feb. 3. His immigration problems began in December when he was refused entry to Canada after a brief trip to Alaska.

Via teleconference, immigration adjudicator Paul Kyba found Rolfe in violation of Immigration Act for the work he did for an Inuvik couple who run a bed and breakfast.

"I don't believe all your testimony regarding your employment. Furthermore, I don't believe you were entirely truthful through the whole inquiry," Kyba said to Rolfe.

The self-proclaimed media-savvy Rolfe declined comment on the ruling but did indicate he would return to Canada to continue his journey across the North.

This isn't the end of Rolfe's legal troubles. He has to appear in territorial court on a firearms charge.
