Qikiqtarjuaq Man charged after police seize drugs and alcohol

Broughton Island (Feb 19/01) - Police in Qikiqtarjuaq searched a home Feb. 10 and netted 150 grams of marijuana in baggies and several bottles of illegal booze.
One man has been charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking, and will appear in territorial court June 14.
Police seized about $10,000 worth of drugs and alcohol.
"There may be other people involved in this situation but not everyone may be charged," said Cpl. Ken Goodine. Police searched the man's home after receiving tips from residents.
Goodine said he was pleased with the community's involvement, adding it was the tips that led to the arrest.
"I know we can not stop it all from happening but this was a significant arrest," Goodine said.
"I would not put (the drug trade) at a higher level here than in other communities, but it is certainly a problem."
