Inuvik (Dec 22/00) - Partnership agreements were reached this week regarding exploration in the Mackenzie Delta.

Teaming up are Chevron Canada Resources, BP Canada Energy and Burlington Resources Canada Energy Ltd.

One agreement concerns Inuvik blocks 1 and 2. BP will acquire an interest in Chevron's 190,770 hectares of land acquired at the Inuvialuit Regional Corporation's (IRC) competitive land sale in April.

Chevron and BP will each share 50 per cent interest in the parcels.

Another agreement allows Chevron and BP to acquire an interest in about 146,000 hectares in lands acquired by Burlington at the Beaufort Sea Mackenzie Delta federal land sale in September 1999.

These new agreements supplement the companies' existing partnership on EL 404, a 73,608 hectare land parcel acquired jointly in August.

Chevron is seeking regulatory approval to operate a 3D seismic program over the Burlington partnership blocks, while Burlington will operate a 2D program.

BP will operate the first well, currently planned for 2001-2 on these blocks.

Chevron will operate a 2D seismic program over the Inuvik 1 and 2 blocks.
