NNSL (Sep 01/99) - It's about as good as match as anyone can hope for -- making a business out of what you love doing.

With the help of her family and friends, that's exactly what Linco Schoenne is doing.

Linco's Pottery Nook, located at 356 Old Airport Rd. in the building formerly occupied by Mil-Spec, opens its doors for business, "ready or not," Sept. 15.

"I love doing pottery," said Schoenne. "It's just a dream come true to be able to do it full time."

More than half of the space in the store is devoted to making pottery, with a small portion at the front set up to display Schoenne's finished work.

The display area also includes the works of Yellowknife potter Janice Morton and the stained-glass craft of Schoenne's sister, Anne Mulders.

But it's sharing her love of the craft that Schoenne hopes to capitalize on most.

Starting at the Sept. 15 opening, Schoenne will be offering a variety of opportunities for people to experience pottery first-hand, from painting and glazing a baked pot to perfectly fit your tastes and decor, to creating a work from a lump of clay.

Schoenne, whose works are also featured at the Nor-Art Gallery in Centre Square Mall, will be offering her studio as a venue for social events, such as children's birthday parties and get- togethers for adults.

Schoenne brings 15 years of pottery experience to the business.

"I first did it when my mum was a guild member," said the soft-spoken 24-year resident of the city. "When I was 12 she took me down to the guild and I've been doing it ever since."

Schoenne said the Old Airport Road location fits her needs perfectly, providing the business with enough exposure but also allowing her time to spend at the wheel.
