NNSL (Aug 11/99) - Yellowknife's newest mall will be a full house, Westshore Developments Ltd. president Eric Malmsten reports.

The Southpoint Business Centre mall, located on Range Lake Road, will have four tenants including Discovery Mining Services, Ikon Office Solutions, Color Works Hair Studio and Arctic Insurance Brokers.

Discovery Mining Services will not only be a tenant, but also a partner in the building with Westshore Developments.

Malmsten said the first tenant, Arctic Insurance, should be moved in at the end of next month. He preferred not give a dollar figure on the value of the building.

Malmsten said changes to the economy are a concern, but the tenants of the new mall are long-time Yk businesses and have committed to long-term leases.

"There's stability there. Having well-established companies (as tenants) reduces risk," he said.

"It's not all doom and gloom. There are things happening."

The new mall covers about 1,100 square metres or about 12,000 square feet. Construction started in May.

In connection with the new mall, Westshore Developments and Discovery Mining Services set up Bristol Developments.
