NNSL (Jan 29/99) - The chair of Yellowknife's public school board says the costs of lawsuits against a radio station and a local parent, launched by the board's superintendent of education, are still not known.

Trustee and board chair Dan Schofield said earlier this week a price could not be determined because the suit still continues.

Though Ken Woodley and radio station CJCD have now reached a deal to end their lawsuit, the superintendent's suit against parent Laurie Sarkadi is still ongoing.

On Tuesday, Sarkadi said the agreement between CJCD and Woodley does not affect the action she still faces.

"I will not accept any restrictions on my right as a parent to ask questions and expect accountability from my elected officials," she said in a written statement released on Tuesday.

Board members and Woodley himself have said that he will not personally receive any money if the lawsuit is successful. He has also asked the court to award him costs on a solicitor and client basis.
