NNSL (May 01/98) - Yellowknife's Eggenberger family has been named the recipient of the NWT Outstanding Volunteer Service Award.

Three generations of Eggenbergers were on hand for the award presentation this past Sunday morning at St. Pat's.

Mayor Dave Lovell, nominated the Eggenbergers for the award.

"This family has continually been active in volunteer activities throughout the region for decades. As a family, not only have they given back to the community but throughout their lives impressed upon their children the importance of such," said Lovell.

"All members commit to projects with energy and commitment. These works are not high in prestige and praise but are works that are quietly and competently completed. They have not required public kudos. It is for this reason they are exceptional."

The Eggenbergers' volunteer blood runs deep.

Albert is a member of the Yellowknife Seniors Society on the finance committee and organizer of seniors events.
