Yellowknife March CPI unchanged
But food prices rose, especially fresh produce, as well as personal-care supplies NNSL (Apr 29/98) - The latest figures show Yellowknife's cost of living unchanged from year-ago figures. For March, the CPI held at 107.7 compared to March 1997. Whitehorse's all-item CPI jumped 1.3 per cent in March 1998 compared to the same month a year earlier. Yellowknife's CPI may have remained unchanged but the Canada-wide index rose .9 per cent. In Yellowknife, increased airfares and rising clothing prices were primarily responsible for the advance in consumer prices in March. Food prices also rose, especially fresh produce, as well as personal-care supplies. Partially offsetting advances were declines in recreational equipment and pet food and fuel. |
