FORT McPHERSON (Apr 03/98) - A man who brutally attacked two others and wrecked a private home while drunk has been sentenced to 11 months in jail.

Stanley James Itsi, now 20 years old, pleaded guilty to assault causing bodily harm, assault and mischief for the beatings and causing $1,405 damage during a house party in Fort McPherson last month.

He was also ordered to make restitution for the destruction.

Itsi, who has been in custody since the February 22 incident, kicked one victim in the face and combined with another person to badly beat a second man. He was under a probation order at the time.

"In sentencing here, I have to protect the public... keep him off the streets," said Yellowknife territorial court judge Michel Bourassa. "He's out of control."

Itsi, Bourassa noted, has already undergone alcohol treatment and rehabilitation during previous stints in custody.
