Checking the complaint

NNSL (Feb 20/98) - The GNWT's conflict of interest commissioner will decide within two weeks whether a public hearing is needed to investigate a complaint filed against Premier Don Morin.

Anne Crawford, in a press release issued Wednesday, reported she is reviewing information about the complaint to determine whether it warrants a public inquiry.

She has requested information from Hay River MLA Jane Groenewegen, who filed the complaint Monday, and Morin. Both had until Wednesday at 1 p.m. to answer the questions asked by Crawford, an Iqaluit lawyer.

To advance to a public hearing, Crawford must be satisfied the complaint is made in good faith, not frivolous and warrants further investigation.
