INUVIK (Feb 13/98) - Charges of sexual assault and forcible confinement were dropped against an Inuvik RCMP officer earlier this week.

But Const. Glen Gordon still faces an internal investigation on matters related to the May 24, 1997 incident and remains suspended with pay from the RCMP.

Inuvik RCMP laid charges against Gordon in late October after a lengthy investigation.

The charges stemmed from an off-duty incident reported to police by a woman.

The RCMP personnel office in Yellowknife says Gordon will not be reinstated until the internal investigation is complete.
