NNSL (Dec 31/97) - Mirimar Con Mine will reduce production to 600 tonnes of ore a day from 1,200 tonnes, the company said.

On Sunday, Miramar laid off 92 union workers and 28 managers.

Con mine's gold production is expected to drop to between 70,000 and 80,000 ounces for 1998.

Miramar made the comments in a draft news release Monday sent to United Steelworkers of America Local 802.
