Hospital runaway returned
RCMP find man downtown without incident

NNSL (Nov 26/97) - RCMP were called on to find a psychiatric patient from Stanton Regional Hospital on Friday.

He was out with a group of other patients at the Polar Bowl during rehabilitative activity time when he fled.

"The activity aid tried to contain him, but couldn't," said Carol Anderson, director of patient care services for Stanton Regional Hospital.

The hospital needed assistance in finding the patient after ran, so hospital staff called RCMP.

Police caught the man in the downtown area without further incident and returned him to Stanton.

When asked if the patient was dangerous to the public, Anderson said "not to her knowledge."

RCMP Staff Sgt. Dave Grundy said most of these patients at the ward have personal problems and are not likely to cause trouble.

"They're only dangerous to themselves not the public," he said.
