NNSL (Nov 21/97) - After a thorough overhaul following an accident last spring, RCMP have their Interceptor snowmobile back on the road. Force One reconditioned the 1997 Polaris Indy 600 and donated it again to police earlier this month.

"The intention is for education, safety and enforcement if needed," said Const. Shawn Pollard.

Force One made the donation to police last year. "It's a pretty good thing on their part," Pollard said.

The $8,000 machine was put to good use until this past spring when a Mountie driving the snowmobile collided with a truck on Vee Lake road.

The back tire on the truck was flattened and the snowmobile put of commission. It had to be hauled to Force One in the back of a pickup truck.

The snowmobile, custom decorated with all the RCMP decals, will be used in parades, community events, and for anti-drinking and sledding campaigns.

This past weekend for instance, RCMP officers were at St. Patrick's high school talking to students about the dangers of drinking and driving as part of National Addictions Awareness Week activities.
