FORT SIMPSON (Nov 07/97) - A territorial cabinet minister says concerns over the GNWT's handling of the Aurora Fund should be discussed at the cabinet table.

Nahendeh MLA and GNWT cabinet minister Jim Antoine was responding to questions concerning the fund raised by constituents at a town hall meeting he hosted in Fort Simpson Thursday.

"I would ask that when you go back to Yellowknife and ask for a full investigation of the Aurora Fund," said resident Peter Shaw.

Antoine told the crowd his only knowledge of the fund came from media reports. "Anything like this, that smacks of sleaziness, everyone is painted by it with the same brush," he said. "If there is anything not right going on with this, we're going to deal with it."

He elaborated on this after the meeting during an interview. "It's going to be a cabinet item," he said. "There's two sides to every story. If something like that is going on, we're going to have to do something about it."
