Blondin-Andrew spends almost as much as she can

NNSL (Oct 27/97) - Western Arctic MP Ethel Blondin-Andrew received a total of $101,397 in campaign contributions during the June election. The figure was release by Elections Canada as part of a complete accounting of federal candidates' expenses and contributors. Personal expenses accounted for a total of $59,441. Deducted from the total that left Blondin-Andrew $623.33 shy of the $57,454 limit on campaign expenses. Nunavut MP Nancy Karetak-Lindell did not come nearly as close to her limit of $51,118, spending just $30,212 apart from personal expenses. The rookie MP received a total of $53,292 in campaign contributions, including a $37,410 cash injection from the Liberal Party of Canada. The bulk of contributions to Blondin-Andrew's campaign, $79,460, came in the form of cash. The Western Arctic Liberal Association bankrolled Blondin-Andrew's campaign to the tune of $53,000. |
