NNSL (Aug 08/97) - At 12:30 a.m. police responded to a report of two beatings going on in the area of the parking lot of the Panda II mall.

Upon arrival the culprits had fled the scene. One male youth offender was tracked down and was expected to be charged with assault causing bodily harm. Police are still looking for the other suspects.

Neither of the victims suffered life-threatening injuries as a result of the alleged attack.

Just over an hour later, 10 minutes before bar closing time, a brawl broke out at the Gallery on Franklin avenue.

Police said what started as a pushing match between two people reportedly turned into a full-fledged brawl.

One bystander had his head smashed against the floor, and another lay bleeding on the pool table.

The fights continued outside the bar where they spread onto the street, police said. One man was even chased around the block by a large number of individuals, before his friends showed up and evened the score.

Another spent the night in Stanton Hospital, as a result of his injuries.

Police are trying to determine what started the brawl. They can then lay charges in connection with all the violence.
