NNSL (July 9/97) - "Five Aces" social club head Wing Lee will be spending the rest of the summer in jail.

Lee, 61, has been remanded in custody by consent at the Yellowknife Correctional Centre until the first of two preliminary hearings to determine whether or not he will stand trial.

During a brief court appearance Friday, territorial court Judge Robert Halifax set dates for the preliminary hearings at the end of summer, when all witnesses will be available.

The long-time Yellowknifer was charged with 26 offences following a May 30 search of his Gold Range Hotel home and poker room.

Lee will answer to the weapons and gambling charges during a preliminary hearing August 21. He will answer to the bulk of his charges -- all sex-related -- Sept. 3.
