NNSL (June 09/97) - Canadian 88 Energy Corp. is trying to come to an agreement with the company that won the exploration rights to a parcel of land in the Tulita District.

A Calgary-based oil and gas production company, Canadian 88 is proposing a cost-sharing arrangement with A.E.C. West Ltd. says Larry Tourangeau, vice-president of the Tulita District in the Sahtu.

He has been involved in the negotiations with the oil companies.

It is uncertain what A.E.C. (Alberta Energy Company) West Ltd. of Calgary will do. Tourangeau says he's been dealing with junior members of the company who have to take the preliminary discussions to their superiors.

A representative of A.E.C. West Ltd. was unavailable for comment.

Canadian 88 in interested in Parcel 11, which was won in a bidding process by A.E.C. West Ltd.

Canadian 88 already has a parcel of land in the NWT called EL-376, which it acquired 18 months ago.

Greg Noval, president of Canadian 88, was out of town and could not be reached for comment.

Tourangeau said he hopes the two companies can come to an agreement on Parcel 11 between themselves. "It's up to them how they decide that," he said.

Tourangeau says he met with the companies in Calgary two weeks ago.
