NNSL (Apr 09/97) - Northerners got their first chance to air concerns about four proposed family law bills Monday before the legislative assembly's committee on social programs.

Kelvin Ng (left), minister of health and social services, was also on hand to answer questions and concerns arising from presentations about the proposed bills.

Cabinet introduced the four family law bills, which deal with family issues including domestic relationships, support, adoptions, custody and protection of children, in November.

The four bills -- the Family Law Act, the Children's Law Act, the Child and Family Services Act and the Adoption Act -- are now under review by the committee before they are introduced into the legislative assembly.

Members of the committee include MLAs Floyd Roland, Roy Erasmus, Tommy Enuaraq, Levi Barnabas, Michael Miltenberger and John Ningark.
