Ted Nolan, who played with the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Detroit Red Wings, was instrumental in bringing the iconic restaurant to the community near the Alberta border.

Nolan also recently opened a Tim Hortons franchise at the Six Nations reserve in Ontario.

On Jan. 8, Nolan joined officials from facility builders ATCO, Premier Bob McLeod, Thebacha MLA Louis Sebert, Hay River MLA Wally Shumann and about 80 members of the community for grand opening celebrations of the Tim Hortons.

Located at the Petro-Canada station, the restaurant is wholly-owned and operated by the Salt River First Nation Development Corporation. The restaurant employs 10 people.
