Missing man located
A man police last week were seeking the public's help to locate has been found, according to an update from RCMP.
On Nov. 3, police issued a news release stating 38-year-old Andrew Sewi had last been seen Oct. 30.
Police issued an update Nov. 4 stating he had been "located."

Mandate tracking site launched
The territorial government has launched a new website to allow the public to track progress on various commitments made as part of its four-year mandate. The mandate was created earlier this year by MLAs.
The website is among ways Louis Sebert, minister responsible for transparency, said the government will increase accountability. The site is at mandate.exec.gov.nt.ca. Other efforts expected to be in place later this month include more frequent release of information about meetings ministers hold with outside parties and travel expense reports.

City gathers 2017 budget input
The City of Yellowknife is hosting a series of meetings next week to gather input on its proposed 2017 budget.
Meetings will be held at city hall in the council chamber Nov. 15 and 17 from noon to 1:30 p.m. and then 7 to 8:30 p.m.
Feedback is also being gathered via an online survey on the city's website. The draft budget will be presented to city council Dec. 5 with councillors deliberating through that week.

Food for Fines returns to library
The Yellowknife Public Library's Food for Fines program is back.
For every non-perishable food item a person brings in to the library, $1 toward their library fines will be waived.
Library patrons must also return their overdue items at the same time. All non-perishable food items collected will be donated to the Salvation Army and the YK Food Bank.
Food for Fines runs from Nov. 14 to 30.

Special encounters
Naujaat
Tuugaalik High School students Ida Kridluar and Terrance Mapsalak were given a unique experience when they were nominated by their school to take part in a special Encounters with Canada trip to Ottawa, Ont., sponsored by the RCMP earlier this school semester.
The focus of the trip was for the two to learn more about emergency services.
Kridluar and Mapsalak resided at the Terry Fox Centre and did numerous activities during their 10day trip, including visiting RCMP detachments, firefighters, paramedics and hospital workers.

Store celebrates grand opening
Arviat
The Arviat Northern store held a grand opening this past Friday, Nov. 4, to celebrate the completion of its $5million expansion and renovation.
The community was invited to join the Northern team and a number of regional dignitaries for a ribboncutting ceremony at 9 a.m., followed by light refreshments, giveaways, contests and great savings throughout the day.
To further mark its grand opening, Arviat's Northern store donated $1,000 to the community's middle school breakfast program.
The store has been expanded by 2,480 square feet, and now offers a more modern look and feel to go along with 10 new job opportunities.
The store also houses Arviat's first pharmacy, which opened earlier this year, providing Arviat residents with access to a pharmacist and the delivery of patientfocused services, including medication reviews, patient education and wellness clinics.
The new baby section in the renovatedandexpanded store promises to provide essential supplies to pamper little ones at new, lower prices.
The addition of a showroom provides customers with the chance to see and touch options in appliances, home furnishing and motorized sport vehicles, while a larger warehouse provides capacity to ship more products costeffectively through sealift to reduce consumer prices.
Soccer day comes to the territory

The Nunavut Soccer Association (NSA) is hosting Soccer Day in Nunavut on Saturday, Nov. 26, with about 1,000 children and youth from 10 communities expected to participate.
The event marks the first oneday sport festival hosted by a territorial sport organization in Nunavut.
The event is simply about celebrating the sport of soccer.
The communities committed to participating include Arviat, Baker Lake, Rankin Inlet, Gjoa Haven, Taloyoak, Kugluktuk, Hall Beach, Arctic Bay and Iqaluit.
Communities will hold a number of different activities during the event, with Arviat planning to feature an obstacle course, team juggling and a shootingaccuracy competition.
The NSA received support for the project through Canada Post Community Foundations, Project North and the Sport and Recreation Division of the Government of Nunavut.
The association designed a Soccer Day in Nunavut logo, and put together a promo kit to support hosting communities that includes tattoos, NSA toques and neckwarmers, balls, soccer socks and a banner.
Craft sale in time for Christmas season
Baker Lake
People in Baker Lake looking for that perfect Christmas gift are advised a craft sale (not a flea market) will be held at the community hall on Saturday, Nov. 19, from 1 until 3 p.m.
The event will feature a number of stunning pieces of work such as sewn products, craft products and carvings.
Cost to rent a table is $20, with all proceeds going to support local youth programs.
