She was run over by the truck when it was backing out of the Northern Store parking lot.

The two-year-old was immediately taken to the health centre before later being medivaced to Winnipeg for further treatment, RCMP said in a news release.

The two-year old is currently in stable condition with non-life threatening injuries.

After RCMP investigated the incident it was determined that the child ran behind the truck while it was backing up which knocked her down, partially running over her.

There were no charges laid.

"The investigation deemed the incident to be accidental and charges were not deemed to be appropriate," stated Sgt. David Lawson, media liaison for RCMP V Division.

Lawson would not reveal the identity of the driver or child.

Lawson said both pedestrians and motorists should take extra precautions in parking lots.

"RCMP would like to remind the public of the importance of road and pedestrian safety in all Nunavut communities."
