Carpet business fire deemed accidental
NWT Fire Marshal Chucker Dewer has deemed the fire that destroyed Fitzgerald Carpeting on Woolgar Avenue on Sunday night as accidental. Dewar said a man was working on a vehicle in the building when he left it running and unattended and it caught fire. Dewar said the man returned and tried to extinguish the blaze but was unsuccessful. It is believed that same man tried in error to use 9-1-1 to summon the fire department and eventually drove to the fire hall to report the fire. The fire destroyed the building and all its contents.

The notice stated technicians were working to restore services as quickly as possible. Details of the outage, including a reason for why service was disrupted, were not available from Northwestel.
Services have since been restored to all regions, according to Northwestel.
