The game was the culmination of Snow Week, a series of activities every day of the week before school let out for spring break, including fun dress-up days and teams competing against each other for the honour of winning Snow Week.

It was the second such game of the school year, with the teachers having won the game at Christmas as well.

"I'm so excited, it's always lots of fun," said Deena Allum just before she stepped on the ice. "Sometimes they get even more competitive than us."

While the students benefited from a longer bench than their academic counterparts, the teachers rallied to defend their zone and put pucks on net. It was also a matter of pride for the staff to maintain their top ranking.

"I'm watching Mr. Wright," said Allum. "He's the one who made me play, so I'm keeping an eye on him for sure."

While the game was a lot of fun for players on both sides, the crowd got into the spectacle of it all too.

Courtney Kasook said she looks forward to watching the games every year.

"It's fun to see the excitement and cheer for the students," she said. "The students beat the teachers a lot because there's a lot of them."

Overall, Kasook said Snow Week had been a success this year, especially after the long stretch from the return to classes to the major spring holiday.

"I enjoyed the games, they've been great this year," she said. "I feel like we always need a break, so this is a good one to have."
