The Aurora Telecom Services vehicle had been clearing a path for the Canadian Championship Dog Derby set to begin next Friday. It was near the south side of Jolliffe Island when it went through the ice.

"(The Department of Environment and Natural Resources) has been notified and Aurora Telecom has done its due diligence," said an Aurora Telcom Services employee, who declined to give his name. "We are waiting on further directions," he said when asked what the plan is to remove it.

A temporary plastic fence had been set up around the truck by press time.

Neither RCMP nor the fire department returned calls for comment.
