A stabbing in Nahanni Butte has led to the arrest of one Fort Liard man, RCMP say.
On the evening of July 4, Fort Liard RCMP responded to a report of a stabbing in Nahanni Butte.
While they were on their way, the injured person was transported to the Stanton Territorial Hospital for treatment.
Leonard Timbre, 20, was arrested and has since been charged with aggravated assault.
Golf course break-in
Fort Simpson RCMP have put out a call for information after two break-ins at the Seven Spruce Golf Course.
The first break-in occurred between midnight and 1 a.m. on June 26, where approximately $150 worth of wine and liquor was reported stolen from the clubhouse.
An RCMP release stated four days later on June 30 before 8 a.m., the golf course suffered a subsequent break-in attempt, although this one proved futile.
Despite the perpetrator not gaining entry, significant damage was done to the exterior of the building.
Const. Elenore Sturko said the RCMP is hoping members of the public will come forward with information on one or both incidents.
"It's very concerning. Golfing is a pretty popular thing and it's unfortunate when the actions of one or two people can cause damage to something that's used by so many," she said.
Sturko could not say whether there was a link between the two break-ins.
"The investigation is ongoing and we will be looking into all avenues," she said.
"We are hoping the public can also assist us by phoning in any information they have."
Marijuana charges for peddlers
More information has come to light on two peddlers charged with trafficking drugs through Fort Simpson.
Sturko said the two were charged with trafficking marijuana in the amount of 50 grams.
Fort Simpson issues peddler licences to some individuals, and SAO Beth Jumbo said on July 6 that these particular individuals had purchased the licence.
Mayor Sean Whelly said he spoke with the peddlers before they left town and got a conflicting account of the incident with RCMP, although he did not expand on the conflict.
"There's the rumour mill, but we will see (what happens) in court," he said.
