REPULSE BAY
The long wait to see actual progress being made on the construction of a new high school in Repulse Bay (Naujaat) is finally over.

Members of Kudlik Construction Ltd. recently completed four months of construction on the school.

Project manager Rob Hellstrom said the project has completed its first phase with the closing of both the gymnasium and daycare areas. He said he is happy to report the work was completed on target with the schedule.

"This success would not have been possible without the great support of the Repulse Bay community," said Hellstrom.

"Thanks to a great team spirit and involvement, we tackled great challenges to build the metal structure and roof for the entire building. Closing the building and pouring concrete was definitely our most technical challenge, considering the weather forecast at this period of the year.

"The team worked through these challenges and final concrete was poured in this first phase as of Nov. 24."

Hellstrom said his workers deserve a big thank you for their contributions to the first phase.

He said the company is proud of the teamwork and, most especially, the fact the work was completed within the safety standards of construction, avoiding severe injuries.

"A special thanks to the Hamlet of Repulse Bay, government officials, the local hotel and the Coop for their help in assisting Kudlik reach its 2014 project goal.

"We look forward to coming back in the spring of 2015 to continue the good work undertaken to date."
