A former RCMP officer is facing charges of sexual assault and sexual exploitation.
The Mounties stated in a news release Tuesday that the charges were laid following an investigation into a complaint of a "historical sexual assault."
Colin Ray Allooloo's first court appearance is scheduled for Dec. 2 in Yellowknife. RCMP are refusing to say where or when the offences are alleged to have occurred. Police also won't say whether Allooloo was serving as an RCMP officer at the time.
Const. Elenore Sturko, a spokesperson for RCMP, said some information has been withheld in order to protect the identity of the alleged victim.
A news release from RCMP G Division states its major crimes unit and RCMP in B.C. conducted the investigation. Police said they are not releasing any further information at this time.
Allooloo resigned from the force in October, 2010, a little more than a year after he was convicted of assault with a weapon.
He was found guilty of pepper spraying a 16-year-old inmate in 2006 in a cell at the RCMP detachment in Fort Simpson. He ended his policing career stationed in Inuvik.
Allooloo also worked as a stand-in for actor Adam Beach in 2012 when Arctic Air was filming in Yellowknife.
