Smoke on plane
A First Air Boeing 737 made an emergency landing in Yellowknife on Tuesday after reporting smoke in the galley, according to a preliminary report by Transport Canada.
The flight was coming in from Norman Wells and was able to land safely around 3 p.m. Airport firefighters were on standby for the landing, but the report says there was no other impact to the airport's operations. First Air was unable to provide comment on the incident by press time.

Drop off your drugs
Yellowknife RCMP are asking residents to drop off any old or unused medications they may have on Saturday for Prescription Drug Drop-Off Day.
A press release from the RCMP stated every year hundreds of people in the NWT are harmed using old, outdated or prescribed medications every year.
The Yellowknife detachment is asking residents to call ahead to set up a drop-off time. Police warned against throwing drugs in the garbage or flushing them down the toilet.

Nationals come calling
The Potential Volleyball Club's U18 girls squad is in Edmonton for the start of the U18 Girls Canadian Open, which begins today.
The girls are entered in division three and are looking to carry momentum from their 11th place finish at the U18 Alberta Provincial Championships last month, the best finish for the team at a provincial event.
They will get three round-robin games on Friday, followed by a further three games in what's known as a power pool, where they play teams based on where they finish in the round-robin. After that, the girls will be entered into one of four playoff pools.
