A Dodge Ram towing a trailer struck the boy while he was riding a small bicycle on Knutsen Avenue.

Skid marks could be seen where the truck attempted to stop. The child's mangled bike, with training wheels, was pinned underneath the front of the truck.

RCMP officers knocked on doors in the residential neighbourhood to get witnesses of the incident, while the vehicle occupants waited outside.

Lynn Fowler, a neighbour, said he didn't witness the incident but was nearby afterwards. He said he's often seen two children playing in the middle of the street.

"It's unfortunate, eh," Fowler said.

"I see them every day biking across the road."

Fowler was concerned the children didn't watch themselves on the street.

"Typical kids," he said, "just playing."

RCMP on scene were unable to comment as they were conducting their investigation at the time.

The name of the child or his condition has not been released.

RCMP have not confirmed whether charges will be laid in the incident.
