SOMBA K'E/YELLOWKNIFE
Kevin Kenny pleaded guilty on Aug. 19 to assault causing bodily harm and endangering life, stemming from a stabbing incident in Tulita in the spring.

A male and female resident were stabbed multiple times after a man broke into their bedroom on April 21.

The victims were medevaced to Stanton Territorial Hospital in Yellowknife and brought to stable condition by April 25.

Kenny, 19, was arrested by RCMP a day later in a cabin across the Mackenzie River from Tulita. He's scheduled to appear in court again on Sept. 9, when a sentencing date will be set.

CHARGE IN FORT SMITH STABBING

The RCMP has charged 20-year-old Lars Rusch with aggravated assault following the stabbing of a man outside the Landing Lounge bar in Fort Smith shortly after 2 a.m. on

Aug. 16. The victim was medevaced to Stanton Territorial Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Rusch was held in custody by RCMP and appeared in territorial court in Yellowknife on Aug. 19. He was released on bail

and will reappear in court in Fort Smith on Oct. 7.

The RCMP is requesting information from anyone who was present when the incident occurred. Any witnesses can call Fort Smith RCMP or Crime Stoppers and can choose to remain anonymous.

NO DECISION YET ON FORMER INUVIK TEACHER

Lawyers are still considering how to prosecute Hugues Latour.

Latour, a former Inuvik teacher who now resides in Ontario, was charged with sexual touching and inviting sexual touching of a

person under 16 years of age, as well as drug trafficking. His trial was thrown out of court on Aug. 13 because too few French-speaking jurors were drawn from Yellowknife for the trial, which Latour requested be in French.

Crown prosecutor Marc Lecorre said a decision is expected to be presented by the Crown to the court on Sept. 6.
