QAMANITTUAQ/BAKER LAKE
What started as a search and rescue mission to find Joseph Hart, who was fishing in Baker Lake Wednesday night, is now being considered a recovery, after his fishing rod and hip waders were found Thursday.

Hart, who was in Baker Lake visiting, was reported missing at approximately 9:45 p.m. Wednesday night, said Staff Sgt. Stephen Bergerman with the V Division RCMP.

Hart was last seen fishing off the shore near the point in Baker Lake.

A resident reported him missing after observing his ATV sitting in the area, along with his shoes, socks, jacket and helmet. Hart was nowhere to be seen.

On Thursday morning, hip waders and a fishing rod were found about 15 metres off shore, said Bergerman.

There are 18 boats and 60 volunteers in the area dragging the water and attempting to find Hart.

No foul play is suspected, according to the RCMP.
