Extreme risk of forest fire returns
The NWT Fire Danger Rating for the Yellowknife area is back to extreme, according to the Department of Environment and Natural Resources website.
The department recommends no open fires, but if a campfire is necessary for warmth, its users must make sure it is completely out after they are finished with it, as burning embers could ignite a wildfire. There are currently no forest fires in the North Slave region. There have been seven so far this season in the region and 22 in the NWT.

Hard partier to serve jail time
A 32-year-old Yk painter was sentenced to 15 days in jail, in territorial court on Thursday, for partying a bit too hard.
The man was charged with mischief on July 4, 2010 after Yellowknife RCMP were called to his Bigelow Crescent home twice, after a neighbour complained about a loud party.
Two months later on Sept. 4, the accused was among "numerous intoxicated people" outside The Raven Pub, interfering with an assault investigation, the court heard. An officer said he had to kick the man in the midsection and jump on his back so he could be handcuffed and charged with obstructing police.
The man blamed the "wrong crowd of people," partying, and drinking for his offences, and was sentenced to 15 days in jail for the obstruction charge and a $100 fine for the mischief.
