ENTERPRISE - The sudden death of a man at a cabin south of Enterprise is being treated as suspicious by police. Another man is in custody in relation to the incident.

Hay River RCMP responded to a call at 6:04 a.m. on Feb. 5 and when officers arrived at the cabin, they found the deceased man.

His name was not released by the RCMP as of Saturday, pending notification of next of kin.

The person in custody hadn't been charged with any crime as of early Sunday.

"Obviously, he's definitely a person of interest," said Acting Sgt. Wes Heron, media liaison with the RCMP's 'G' Division.

The RCMP issued a brief news release Saturday afternoon, The release was partially designed to offer assurance to members of the public concerned about the incident. "We don't want the public to think that there is somebody running around out there," Heron said.

The police were not revealing the exact location of the cabin, although it is believed to be south of Enterprise along Highway 1 towards the NWT-Alberta border.

Nor were they providing any information about the cause of death, or the hometowns and ages of the deceased man and the person in custody.

As for the time of death, Heron said that is to be determined through the investigation.

The incident is being investigated by the major crimes unit of 'G' Division, in conjunction with the Hay River Detachment.
