Second manslaughter charge in Rankin Inlet
Darrell Greer Northern News Services Published Friday, August 20, 2010
RCMP charged Colin Makpah, 26, of Rankin with manslaughter earlier this week after charging Abraham Nakoolak, 26, also of Rankin, with manslaughter two days earlier. The RCMP had responded to a call to a local residence at about 2:30 a.m. on Aug. 14. Upon arrival RCMP found D.J. (Donald James) Gamble, 23, of Rankin lying on the steps outside the residence. Gamble had reportedly been stabbed several times following an altercation that began at a party. Gamble was immediately transported to the Kivalliq Regional Health Centre, where the 23-year-old succumbed to his wounds while health centre staff were trying to stabilize him. An autopsy has been completed and the investigation is ongoing. The police are asking anyone with more information, or who may have witnessed the act and still not spoken to police, to please contact the Rankin Inlet RCMP or to phone Crime Stoppers.
