NUNAVUT - Syd Glawson was elected mayor during Cambridge Bay's municipal election on Dec. 14.
But Glawson said a recount could be held.
He beat candidate Joe Otokiak by only three votes.
"There has been, shall we say, a suggestion there might be (a recount)," he said. "The request has to be done in writing, and no one has done that yet."
Glawson said he will work with municipal council to improve Cambridge Bay's image.
"As I said before and during my campaign, this little town had a reputation it doesn't deserve and I want to make sure it reaches the heights it should," he said.
"I think with the council that was elected, with the support of the people, we can let the rest of Nunavut know we exist and we are a good hamlet to live in and to work in."
