Child groper charged with library sex assault
Cara Loverock Northern News Services Published Wednesday, July 1, 2009
Bobby Kudlak, 35, a registered sex offender, has been charged with sexual assault and failing to comply with the terms of his probation in relation to an incident at the Yellowknife Public Library on June 16. RCMP Const. Stephanie Ward said Kudlak did not know the child he has been charged with sexually assaulting. She said no further details of the incident can be released "at this time." On Nov. 4, 2008, Kudlak was sentenced in territorial court to 18 months in jail for sexually assaulting a young girl at the Yellowknife Wal-Mart on June 6, 2008. The young girl was also unknown to Kudlak and was under the age of 12. Kudlak was given 10 months credit for time spent in remand and served only eight months in jail before he was released. Ward said she did not know exactly when he was released from jail. "I think you should be locked up for the rest of your life," said Judge Brian Bruser at Kudlak's previous sentencing last November. At the time Bruser also noted Kudlak had a long criminal history, and said he was likely to re-offend. Kudlak is currently being held in police custody and is scheduled to appear in territorial court on July 14.
