Charges laid in grow-op investigation
Cara Loverock Northern News Services Published Wednesday, March 4, 2009
A 40-year-old man and his 34-year-old spouse face one charge each of possession for the purpose of trafficking and production of a substance under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, according to the RCMP. RCMP Const. Kathy Law said the exact volume of drugs seized has not yet been determined. "That's still part of the (ongoing) investigation," she said. The two accused were arrested but are not being kept in jail. They are scheduled to appear in territorial court on April 7. Police had initially attended to the residence to aid in a child welfare investigation. A search warrant was subsequently obtained and marijuana was seized, which included 20 plants. Law said the RCMP could not comment on where the children are presently, as it is a matter being dealt with by Yellowknife Health and Social Services Authority. |
