INUVIK - The Inuvik Family Centre is now a one stop shop to help residents keep those New Year's resolutions.

Linked with a yoga teacher and personal trainers, the centre can help find a workout fit for you.

Jason Petkau started teaching yoga in town last year, based in Ingamo Hall.

To kick off the new year, Petkau is offering classes in the family centre on Tuesday night, using its meeting rooms and foyer space for two sessions per week.

"He approached the town about starting it up and the town is always looking for new programs to offer the people," said MacGillivary.

Tuesday and Saturday are the days the yoga classes are in session.

MacGillivary said a 10-punch pass can be purchased for the class.

A team of personal trainers can also be accessed through the centre. Get Fit Consulting,

a team of trainers will meet with you and discuss possible exercise programs based on individual goals.

"They can put a package together that can work for you," he said.

A dietary program is also included as part of the training regime.

MacGillivary said he and his wife took an opportunity to test the program.

"It was great," he said.

MacGillivary said his goal is to improve his fitness level.

"I'm looking for the guns. I want the pythons," he said with a laugh.

After meeting with the trainers initially, MacGillivary and his wife are now taking control of their program, checking in with the trainers once in a while.

"We've been at this for about a month now," he said.

The family centre also hired a new supervisor and lifeguard. Deanna and Dave MacDonald are settling in to their new positions.

MacGillivary said the pool schedule can be found at the front desk of the family centre.
