The Night of the Big Dead Ass
Daron Letts Northern News Services Published Wednesday, October 29, 2008
Co-organized by Patrick Kane, Camilla MacEachern, Erika Nyyssonen and Jay Bulckaert, the event was inspired by a semi-formal costume ball held at the Elks Club two summers ago. The organizers dubbed that event The Pregnant Librarian. "Everyone was respectful and had a good time at that event so we thought we'd do it again at the Elks for Halloween," Kane said. A small cover charge will keep the party affordable while also covering costs with a bit leftover for Elks Club charities, Kane added. "Costumes are a must," Bulckaert said. "People are going all out. A lot of people are ordering costumes online this year." The organizers also put in a lot of hours planning music for the event. They arranged six hours of songs downloaded off iTunes to keep the energy high throughout the evening. Door prizes will go to whoever has the best costume, the worst costume, the sexiest costume and those who fit in with other costume categories. There will be pumpkin carving, too. No donkeys were harmed in the co-ordination of this event. |
