School Board Briefs Yellowknife Catholic trustees meet

It will be the first meeting of the new school year with the board. The public is invited to attend. The meeting starts at 7:30 p.m. Yk1 trustees thanks supporters of pancake breakfast During the Yk Education District No.1 board of trustee meeting last week, trustee member Mildred Wilke thanked the department of education and NWT Food First organization for their support of the Yk1 pancake breakfast held earlier in the month. Food First provided oranges and milk for the event and the department of education provided prizes drawn for the math challenge. The event was open to the public and offered people a chance to meet Yk1 school principles. Staples offers school supplies Staples office supplies store in Yellowknife has raised $3,048 for Yk1 students who can't afford school supplies. Staples general manager Helen Theriault said the store secured donations from its customers and turned that money into gift cards. All money raised will go to local students. The gift cards will be passed out to students to help them pay for school supplies. Trustees selected for PAC representation Parent association committee representatives from the Yk1 board of trustees have been selected for Yk1 schools. Jay Butler will attend PAC meetings at N. J. Macpherson school and Mary Lou Cherwaty was assigned to Sir John Franklin high school. Reanna Erasmus will attend PAC meetings at Range Lake North school, Allan Short at Mildred Hall school and Terry Brookes will go to William McDonald middle school. The PAC meetings at J.H. Sissons school will be attended by trustee Mildred Wilke. |
